Fake Universities in India 2019
A university can award degrees to the students studying in their institute only if they have been established under the Central Provincial or State Act as per the UGC Act 1956. The universities must be deemed under section 3 of the UGC Act. If the universities are not deemed as per the UGC Act, they can still grant degrees to the students if they are specifically empowered by an Act of the Parliament to confer degrees to students. The University Grants Commission Board has recognized 24 of the Fake Universities in India which do not have any right to confer degrees to students. Check if it is accredited or recognized by the UGC or the State Government Board. You can also find this information in the certificate the university issues. Be careful when checking for these details. The fake universities use duplicate seal and wrong spellings. They also have grammatical mistakes. Original universities have certificates with seals that are either embossed or gold. One more way to check fake university certificates is seeing the text used. Fake universities in India always use Old English text on their certificates.

I will share my personal experience with you. When I was looking for an institute, I was not sure which university to pick. I would just google my course and get a list of universities along with their fee structure. I had come across one university which claimed to number one university in India. It did not mention if it is accredited by UGC or AICTE or not. I was ready to fill the application form. But then I saw a few reviews of the college which said it is a fake university in India. I was a little scared of what to do. I called them up on the number they gave me and they assured me it is not a fake university. But I still had some doubts in my mind. Everyone has to look at the list of recognised universities in India to identify the differences between fake universities.
What I did next, is what all of you should do if you have any doubts. I called up UGC. They were so helpful and guided me through the process. The answered all my questions. After I told them about my concern, they told me that the university if false. I was so relieved that I called them up. I was saved from falling in the trap of another of these fake universities in India. Candidates can also report these universities to the UGC or AICTE. In case you fall in the trap of these false institutes in India, your certificate will not be accepted anywhere. Your time and money will be wasted and your degree will not hold any value. That is why it is very important to make sure the university you select is not fake. Beware to choose the recognised universities in India and avoid the list of fake Universities declared by UGC. Because you are going to place your first footstep for the higher studies.
Recent List of Fake Universities in India given by AICTE in 2019
The All India Council for Technical Education, commonly known as AICTE, is a statutory body. It is a national-level council for technical education which falls under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. According to AICTE, 279 technical institutions in India are fake. The board releases its list of Fake Universities in India on their official website and also publish it in the newspapers.
As per the AICTE, Karnataka tops the list with 23 fake universities. The states to follow are Uttar Pradesh with 22, Himachal Pradesh with 18, Bihar with 17, Maharashtra with 16 and Tamil Nadu with 11 false institutes. Uttarakhand and Rajasthan have three bogus universities each which stand the lowest.
