The Banaglore Metro Rail Corporation Limited, also known as Namma Metro, it is a rapid transit system that serves the city of Bengaluru, India. In October 2018, India’s third longest-running metro network was after Delhi Metro and Hyderabad Metro. Namma Metro ranked 83rd in terms of length and 79th in terms of the number of operating stations globally. The metro system consists of two color-coded lines with 42.3 km serving 40 stations. The system consists of underground, ground level and elevated stations that use tracks of standard width. The metro has an average of 315,000 passengers per day. By 2023, the system is expected to complete its Phase 2 network and provide connectivity to the city’s major technology centers, Electronics City and Whitefield.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL), a joint venture between India and the Government of Karnataka, built and operates the Namma Subway. The services operate every day between 05:00 and 23:00 with an advantage of between 4 and 20 minutes. The trains consist of three to six cars. The output power is provided by 750 volts of direct current through the third rail. The Namma subway is India’s second railway transport system that uses the third railway traction at 750 V DC, the first being the Calcutta Metro. Namma Metro is the First Metro rail project in India commissioned with 750V DC Third Rail on Standard Guage.
