Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the World’s Highest Rail Track at Leh
Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the 3,300 meters high, an important rail project which is touted to become the world’s highest rail track, overtaking China’s Qinghai and Tibet Railway line. The Leh rail network is known for its all-weather services and is one of the four major railway connections identified by the defence ministry along the China border. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 157.77 crore. This project is initiated to make a direct railway connection of Leh to Himachal Pradesh. This rail line will also connect all major locations between Leh and Bilaspur, such as Tandi, Koksar, Sunder Nagar Mandi, Upshi, Keylong, Karu, and Manali. Additionally, personnel and equipment will be transported to the Leh strategic military base very easily.
Aadhaar Card to become an invalid identification document for Indians travellers
The Union Home Ministry has declared that Aadhaar Card is no more considered as a valid identification document for Indians travelling to Bhutan and Nepal. Indians travelling to Bhutan and Nepal must possess a voter ID or a valid national passport issued by the officials. Aadhaar (UID) card is valid for government subsidies on LPG but not an acceptable travel document for travel to Bhutan and Nepal. Indians below 15 years and over 65 years can show any documents with photographs, such as PAN card, CGHS card, driving license, and ration card. Travels will affect from 1st July 2017 at all International airports.

On the World Taekwondo Championships Eve in South Korea, the federation president announces the change of name of World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) to World Taekwondo due to negative connotations with its acronym. The new name and logo will reflect the commitment of body to adapting and evolving to remain relevant with today’s modern and young audiences.
29.5 million people around the world suffering from drug use disorders
According to the World Drug Report 2017, 29.5 million young people involved in the problematic use of drugs and affected by the drug use disorders. According to the report shared by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Opioids drugs is the most harmful type of drug which accounts 70% of the negative health impact in humans.

Fiscal Deficit of State to soar Rs 4.93 trillion in FY16
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently launched statistical publication titled ‘Handbook of Statistics on States 2016-17’. The Publication claims that the total gross fiscal deficits of Indian states shot up to Rs 4.93 trillion. UP with Rs 64,320 crore deficit in FY16 and Rajasthan with Rs 67,350 crore deficit in FY16 accounted for the largest chunks in the Indian States.

Srikanth wins Australian Open Super Series title
Kidambi Srikanth wins the Australian Open Super Series title by defeating Olympic champion Chen Long on 25th June 2017. It is the fourth super series title of his career. The Badminton Association of India awarded Srikanth with Rs 5 lakh.
