India signs a series of agreements with Israel for cooperating in key sectors. The agreements are in the fields of water, agriculture, and technology. Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu says that the cooperation marks a “marriage made in heaven”. Modi concludes his address to the community of India in Israel. Modi and Netanyahu also decided to launch a flight serviced between Delhi, Mumbai, and Tel Aviv.
Jammu and Kashmir passes bill for implementing GST in the state
The Legislative Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir passes the resolution for the implementation of GST in the state. The state Assembly also passes the landmark tax reform during one of the special seasons, after the 2 days of fiery debates between the members of BJP and the opposition. The resolution was moved by Haseeb Drabu, who is the state Finance Minister. Then it was adopted by an order of President calling on the Centre for safeguarding the exclusive powers of the state for taxations and the special status.

China sets up research base for countering illegal drones
China decides to set up the first research base in the country’s southwest Sichuan province dedicated for clamping down on the illegal flying of drones. The base will encourage the development of anti-drone technology and will also enhance the safety of aviation. The establishment of this is jointly by around 20 organizations and mostly was research institutions and drone manufacturers that include the Academician Drone Lab. The base is currently in Chengdu in the province and will work under the direction of China’s Civil Aviation Administration.

Microsoft to equip around 55000 Indian schools with digital classrooms
NISA (National Independent School Alliance) signs a MoU with tech giant Microsoft for equipping the 55,000 schools around the 20 states in the country. This will cover around 2 core students with digital classrooms. After this partnership, all the 50,000 schools that are the member of NISA can now avail MASP Pro Plus and the next generation payment solution of Efee Online for enhancing the teaching as well as learning.
Telcos lost market share due to Jio in 2016: TRAI Report
One of the leading telecom majors Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular saw that their market shares were shrunk in 2016, and were giving way to aggressive newcomer Reliance Jio. Reliance Jio ended the year with the market share of 6.4 percent, as per data recorded by the telecom regulator Trai. Vodafone added around 11.09 million new users during the year 2016 but saw that market share slip to 18.16 percent from 19.15 percent in December 2015. The commercial operations of Jio began in early September 2016 providing free voice as well as data offers. In the year end, it has a record to have 6.4 percent market share. Jio had 72.16 million new subscribers.

India expresses interest in hosting FIFA U-20 World Cup 2019
The AIFF (All India Football Federation) submits an interest expression to host the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2019. The President of AIFF is Praful Patel. He states it to be one of the next logical steps to develop the Football Sport in India. The format of 2019 FIFA World Cup is similar to that of FIFA U-17 World Cup. In this, 24 teams will participate out of 6 venues. Meanwhile, India will host FIFA U-17 World Cup.
