Anti-hijacking law comes into effect, Civil Aviation Ministry issues notification
The Civil Aviation Ministry notifies a new law of anti-hijacking. This law includes the death penalty for hijackers and also empowers the security forces for preventing a commandeered airliner to take off. It empowers the forces of security to immobilise an aircraft which is hijacked. Not only this, if there is any evidence which could be used as a missile for hitting a vital installation, this anti-hijacking law can also shoot down a hostile plane.
India declares itself free from pathogenic Avian Influenza
According to the recent reports, India has declared itself to be highly pathogenic Avian Influenza (H5N1 and H5N8) free country. After the surveillance in the states, no such shreds of evidence are showing its presence. The surveillance was carried out throughout the country since the operation was completed.
Govt. of Odisha signs EOI with IAAF and AFI to establish High-Performance Academy
An EOI (Expression of Intent) has been signed by the Government of Odisha with AFI (Athletics Federation of India) and International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF). The State Government would provide the infrastructure as well as support services that include medicine, facilities of physiotherapy and specialists, outdoor stadium, an international hostel for the athletes, coaches, and visit to foreign countries. Also, the Department of State Sports and Youth Services will provide funds.
