About DGE Board
The Government of Tamil Nadu has constituted a new Board for School Examination viz “Tamil Nadu State Board of School Examination” by combining the existing two separate boards (1) Board of Secondary Education and (2) Board of Higher Secondary Examinations. Directorate of Government Education was founded in the year 1911. The Head Quarters located at Chennai, Tamil Nadu. DGE offers different streams of education like SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) stream, the Anglo-Indian stream, the Oriental School Leaving Certificate (OSLC) stream and the Matriculation stream. Similarly, for higher secondary (classes 11 and 12) there is single unified stream leading to the award of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC). The Tamil Nadu State Board of School Examination evaluates students’ progress by conducting two board examinations-one at the end of class 10 and the other at the end of class 12.
