About High Court of Karnataka:
The High Court of Karnataka is the High Court of the Indian State of Karnataka. It is located in Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka. The High Court operates from a red brick building called Attara Kacheri. He faces Vidhana Soudha, the seat of the legislative assembly of Karnataka. The High Court of Karnataka is currently in place in Bangalore, Hubli-Dharwad, and Gulbarga. The High Court is located in a building called Attara Kacheri (that is eighteen offices). It is a two-story stone and brick building, painted in red, in Greco-Roman architectural style. It is a vast extension with ionic porticos at the center and at both ends of the elevation. The construction of the building was supervised by Rao Bahadur Arcot Narayanaswami Mudaliar and was completed in 1868. It was formerly called Old Public Office and was named Attara Kacheri when the eighteen departments of the General Secretariat and the government revenues from Mysore moved. here from its overcrowded facilities in Tipu Sultan’s summer palace.
Tippu Palace was just a temporary house for offices. When Bowring took over the post of Cubbon, he found that the building was not adequate, both because of its maintenance and limited housing, which was no longer sufficient for the great work of the ‘public administration. He designed and prepared plans for a full-fledged secretariat building in the city. The construction was resumed in 1864 and completed at the cost of Rs 4.5 lakhs in 1868. There was a proposal to demolish this building in 1982. However, a public interest litigation (PIL) was filed to prevent the demolition of this old building. This was the first DIP before the Karnataka High Court and the case was heard in the same building that was to be demolished. In August 1984, Judges N. Venkatachaliah and Vittal Rao rendered a judgment suspending the demolition.
