The Union Cabinet made a decision on 1st may 2013 and has approved the launch of National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) as a Sub-mission of an over-arching National Health Mission (NHM). It made a decision with National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) as another Sub-mission of National Health Mission. NHM mainly has six financing components named as NUHM Flexipool, NRHM-RCH Flexipool, Flexible pool for the Noncommunicable disease like Injury and Trauma. The flexible pool for Infrastructure Maintenance, Communicable disease, and Family Welfare Central Sector component. Within the range of broad national priorities & parameters, states will have the flexibility to plan and implement state specific action plans. The state PIP will spell out some of the key strategies, activities undertaken, budgetary requirements and key health outputs and outcomes.
