About IISR

The Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research (acronym IISR) is an autonomous institute of higher learning, established under the umbrella of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India for advanced research in sugarcane agriculture. The Institute is located on Raibareli Road, Dilkusha in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. The institute was established in 1952 as a subsidiary of the Indian Central Sugarcane Committee but was brought directly under the Government of India on 1 January 1954 and later entrusted to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) on 1 April 1969 along with other agriculture-based research institutions were brought under ICAR.
