Kolkata Municipal Corporation shortly KMC (CMC). The KMC was established in 1876.KMC is responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the city of Kolkata. This civic administrative body administers an area of 200.71 km². KMC is headed by Sovan Chatterjee the present Mayor of Kolkata. Kolkata is a clean and attractive city of international repute in which all people have access to quality services. Vision of KMC is “KMC will be efficient, effective, equitable, citizen responsive, financially sustainable and transparent, delivering quality service to its citizens”. The first emblem of the corporation came into existence in 1896. The old emblem was changed and a new design was adopted on 22 February, 1961.
