Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is the first Provincial Public Service Commission. It is also known as the Madras Service Commission. It came into being under an Act of the Madras Legislature. TNPSC established in 1929. TNPSC was formed to recruit persons to the Provincial and Subordinate Services. In 1936, It name was modified as “The Madras Public Service Commission”.It came to known as Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission from the year 1970 on wards. The provisions relating to the Public Service Commissions are contained in Articles 315 to 323 of the Constitution of India.
