Educational Qualification
- Agricultural Officer (Extension) – A Bachelor degree in Agriculture (B.Sc Agriculture)
- Assistant Director of Horticulture – Must possess a degree in M.Sc., Horticulture (or) M.Sc., Fruit Science (or) M.Sc., Floriculture and Landscaping (or) M.Sc., Vegetable Science (or) M.Sc., Spices / Plantation and Medicinal and Aromatic Plants
- Horticultural Officer – Must possess a degree in B.Sc., Horticulture.
- Assistant Agricultural Officer – Must have passed Higher Secondary (plus two) Examination and Must possess two years Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized university.
- Assistant Horticultural Officer – A Pass in Higher Secondary Examination and A pass in the two years Diploma course in Horticulture in the Institutions.

About Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission is one of the departments of the government of Tamil Nadu. The TN PSC Commission is responsible for governing the recruitment of personnel into the state’s public service. TN PSC is the successor of the Madras Service Commission, which came into existence under an Act of the Madras Legislature in the year 1929. Also, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission was the first Provincial Public Service Commission in India. TN PSC adopted its current name in the year 1970. The Board operates under the Articles 315 to 323 of Part XIV of the Constitution of India.
In the year 1923, the Government of India established a Public Service Commission mainly to examine the salary structure of the Indian Civil Service and the possibility of transferring some of the duties to provincial services. The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission was composed of five Englishmen and four Indians, with Viscount Lee of Fareham serving as chairman. It was left largely to the discretion of provincial governments to recruit and exercise control over their services, as deemed proper. The Tamil Nadu Commission also addressed the rate of Indianisation of the Indian Civil Service under Indian Police. As a result of the discretionary powers left to provincial Government, the Government of Punjab and the Government of Madras proposed to set up their own Tamil Nadu Public service commissions.
Madras Service Commission
The Madras Presidency was one among the first province all over India to establish their own Service Commission during the times of Madras Service Commission’s establishment under the Act of Madras Legislature in the year 1929. The Madras Service Commission was started with only three members, including the Chairman. Several State Level commissions were constituted after re-organization of the states in 1957. The Madras Service Commission, the old name of Madras Public Service Commission. The TNPSC was headquartered in Madras in the year 1957. During 1970, when the name of the state was changed to Tamil Nadu, the Madras Public Service Commission was then renamed as the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.
