• 10th standard Grammar knowledge of Hindi and English etc.

• – System of Units of Mass, weight, time, Volume, angle, area (CGS/MKS/FPS) and their conversions etc.
• Knowledge about properties of aluminum and its alloys, brass, bronze, copper, iron, and steel etc.
• Use of formulae for perimeter & area of a square, circle, Triangle, Hexagon, Parallelogram, use of trigonometry in solving vehicles problems etc.

NCL Statutory Syllabus for Jr. Overman (Technical Part)

(A) General Safety and Legislation

• Duties and responsibilities of workmen, competent persons and officials(Excluding Managers, Assistant Managers)/Discipline Amongst workers and control of Staffs.
• Provisions of the Coal Mines Regulations 2017, Relating to Open Cast Coal Mine Working; explosives and short firings; Loading, Transportation & Dumping; Precautions against danger from fire, dust, gas, and water and of other provisions and rules, Enforcement and compliance of provisions under the regulations to which OVERMAN is responsible and Other.

(B) Methods of Working:

• Nature of occurrence of coal seams; Geological disturbances and their effects on working conditions; Dangers and precautionary measures while approaching geological disturbances areas.
• The Purpose and utility boreholes in mines.
• Safe Handling and use of Explosives; Simultaneous short firing; Blasting in Fire areas in Opencast Mines; Safety Precautions.
• Suppression and treatment of mines Dust and Other.

(C) Elements of Mining Machinery:

• Safety Aspects and safe use of different kinds of Machinery used in Opencast Mines.
• Application of Electricity in Mines; Safety Precautions.

• Opencast coal mine working; bench formation, dump management, and haul road design.
• Shotfiring and transport and use of explosives in mines.
• Safety issues in opencast workings, transport of material, working at heights, marching, and deployment of heavy machines etc.
• The preliminary idea about reclamation operation in opencast mining.
• A preliminary understanding of safety management plan.
• Provisions of the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017, Rules and Bye-laws made under the Mines Act,1952, relating to the safety of persons employed in Mines in general and to the duties of Sirdars and Shotfirer’s in particular.
• Writing of reports.

NCL Mine Surveyor Syllabus (Technical Part)

• Linear Measurement: Instruments for measuring distance ranging; chain surveying; errors in chaining and plotting; Optical Square.
• EDM: Principles of measurement; types; correction and selection of instruments.
• Angular Measurement: Prismatic Compass; the bearing of lines; Local Attraction; Magnetic Declination.
• Plan Table Surveying: Methods Contouring using plain table and micro-optic alidade.
